What are the primary differences between the FTB and the circular saw style tree trimmers on the market? By using the multi-functional hydraulic chain saw it allows for the operator to position the saw head accurately allowing for a clean well placed cut for those areas demanding a more aesthetic cut. That in turn can also impact health of the tree being trimmed. The chain saw also greatly reduces the risk of a blade failure and sending dangerous projectiles through the work area. This is especially important in residential areas. The FTB is also extremely quiet and compact to be as unobtrusive as possible.
How often does the chain need to be sharpened? In normal trimming applications the chain will need sharpened once approximately every 40 hours, this can vary depending on the type and cleanliness of the wood. (i.e. along gravel roads)
Does the bar and chain get pinched in a cut? The manipulation of the saw allows for the proper approach to the cut, along with cutting speed makes the unit no more likely to pinch than a circular saw style trimmer.
How is the bar and chain lubricated? There is an independent system with its own reservoir that is activated while the saw is making a cut so that lube oil is used efficiently. This method is used so as not to affect the main hydraulic system.
Is the unit stable for working off all quadrants? Yes it is. The main frame allows for a total of 48 degrees of lateral tilt for leveling on rough terrain. The unique design of the super structure also maintains optimal stability. When the boom is in the lowered position the super structure is tilted rearward to act as a counterweight. As the boom is raised the super structure stands up proportionally to maintain the proper center of balance.
Where is the "Hatz" engine made? The Hatz is a German made engine. It is an extremely durable and efficient air cooled diesel engine. The "Silent Pack" feature greatly reduces engine noise as well as directing air flow in to and out of the housing for cooling and combustion purposes.
How is the boom telescopic feature accomplished? The drive system to telescope the inner boom is a trunnion mounted 175'' stroke hydraulic cylinder. The boom slides on 24'' of UHMW plastic at the rear of the inner boom and 24''of UHMW plastic at the front of the outer boom, giving a full 48'' of bearing surface for longevity and stability.
What type of hydraulic oil is used? The unit is shipped from the factory with Cenex Indol MV. This is a 5w20 multi weight oil with a dielectric rating of 25kv. Most premium hydraulic oils for use in hydrostatic drives with a dielectric rating of 25kv or greater will be compatible.
Does the chain saw throw a lot of sawdust toward the machine? The saw motor drives the chain counterclockwise to throw the sawdust away from the unit. This is to minimize the amount of sawdust falling toward the operator and the amount collecting on the machine.
This also helps when cutting small limbs by kicking them away from the boom to reduce the risk of scarring to the boom.
Is financing available? There is a financing option available, check with sales for more information.
